Blairmore Gardens

Since 2013, Blairmore Village Trust has been actively engaging with the local community to develop plans for how best to landscape and utilise the land purchased in 2014.

In 2017 we are now at the stage of implementing much of the landscaping elements of the development.  This is being achieved with financial assistance of £8,000 from Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ fund.

We have entered Blairmore in the 2017 Beautiful Scotland Campaign and the judges will assess our community efforts on the 4th August 2017.

As part of our development activity we are mindful that the land was originally and historically referred to as ‘the field’.  Essentially this is because it was a field and originally used for drovers to rest their animals while awaiting transportation on the ferry to the historic Trysts at Falkirik.

Clearly our activities have now transformed the lands use and atmosphere.  On a number of occasions we have sought views from across the community about an appropriate name for the land. Unfortunately, with views being quite diverse we have not been able to achieve any consensus.

The Trust Board have reflected on this and decided that in going forward the land will be renamed Blairmore Gardens.  We have received a lot of positive feedback on this and hope it will enable us to continue to present our facilities at Blairmore in a positive and interesting way that encourages sustainability.

Now that the Trust has taken ownership of the site next to the village hall, we will use this page to keep you updated on what comes next.

A big thank you to Yvonne Tracey, who has kindly produced a plan showing some of the ideas for landscaping the site next to the village hall. A large, weatherproof version of this plan can be seen at the site itself. We are currently working out the likely costs of the different features and looking at opportunities for fundraising, sponsorship or volunteers to get some, or all, of these into place. More information will be added to this page soon but in the meantime, please do get in touch if you are interested in being involved…
